    In this class, students will learn drawing skills that will allow you to draw objects and scenes right in front of you! There is no need for reference photos when we have the world around us. We'll learn time tested observational drawing exercises through contour drawing practices. You'll come away with multiple drawings and a set of skills that you can practice at home with only pen and paper. Participants are encouraged to bring a few items from home that you find interesting: shells, small plants, feathers, trinkets, or whatever you find visually interesting!

    It's spring break, but many animals are still hibernating! Let's keep stay cozy with fun art projects like creating our own stuffies out of felt and embroidery, drawing and coloring clothing, or painting a warm scene. This creativity camp will be great fun and keep your kids creative during the break from school through creation of masterpieces both individually and as a group, while having fun and making friends along the way!

    Dress comfortably for artistic exploration!

Birds, fish, reptiles, amphibians, and insects will all be subjects of the art made by your child. We will explore lots of art mediums and methods to create our fun and cute egg-themed artwork!     Join us for a Spring Break Camp where we will celebrate the spring equinox, the time of year when day is as long as night, by making art about light! We will work with a wide variety of media and learn a variety of techniques as we experiment with watercolor, acrylic painting, mixed media and more. We'll be sure to make a 3-dimensional sculpture that lights up this special time of year. Dress comfortably for artistic exploration!

  • Tuesdays: April 7th - May 26th. 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM. The best after-school program—Art Adventures!  Your child, ages 6-10 years old, will creatively explore and adventure through different art mediums and techniques each week while having some after-school fun. This program will run for 8 weeks on Tuesdays. All art supplies included. Instructor: Patty Lassaline This class will be held in the Classroom, on the ground floor of the Lake Mansion. With real bouquets of tulips as a reference for our paintings, you and your little one will receive step-by-step instructions from our teaching artist.     What better way to welcome the coming of spring than to create a beautiful mixed-media project on canvas of a blossoming spring tree! In this workshop, you and your little one will work with various mediums to explore color, shape and composition with step-by step instruction from our Teaching Artist. At the end of this class, you will have a beautiful hand-made project to hang at home.

    In May's watercolor class, we will be painting local artist, Galina Milton's "California Poppies". Students will learn how to mix color, balance composition, and utilize watercolor techniques to replicate this gorgeous array of iconic wildflowers. This class includes step-by-step guidance on the basics of watercolor and is suitable for all levels of artist.

    In this month's acrylic painting class, we will be painting the iconic Maynard Dixon painting, "Desert Journey." With step-by-step instruction from our Teaching Artist, each participant will learn acrylic painting skills like sketching, color mixing, & painting from reference, and will end the class with a gorgeous western landscape of their own. This painting is suitable for all levels of acrylic artist and will be done on 16x20" canvases, ready to hang at home!

    All supplies included. This is a step-by-step class, so please arrive by the stated start of class; late arrivals may miss steps that can’t be revisited.

    Get ready for another fun family workshop where we will be creating a vibrant mixed-media collage of an underwater scene with some sweet sea creatures! By painting and mixing collage, we will create Eric Carle - inspired artworks, ready to hang at home. This workshop is perfect for parents and kiddos who love the ocean, and all the critters in it!
