EVENT: FREE Youth Art Month Family Art Festival
EVENT DATE: Saturday, March 16, 2019 from 11am – 3pm *Families with children who have special needs are welcome to attend starting at 10am.
LOCATION: 250 Court St. at Arlington Ave, free lot and street parking
Join us for our annual Youth Art Month Family Art Festival! It’s FREE and no registration is required. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
Parking is available in AFAN’s lot off Arlington Ave. in addition to street meter parking or free public parking 2 blocks east at Sierra St. and Court St. AFAN’s Youth Art Month Family Art Festival is free and open-to-the-public thanks to funding from the Nell J. Redfield Foundation and Nevada’s “Rich in Art” license plate acquired through the DMV.
-Eight creative art stations for kids to make and take art home
-Free book for each child
–Tours of the historic Lake Mansion
–Patty Cafferata, historian and author, will be available to answer questions and to sign her many historical building books including Lake Mansion: Home to Reno’s Founding Families and Christmas in Nevada.
Did you know that AFAN conducts art workshops in 40 schools including classes during the school day and after-school programs? We do! AFAN is the only northern Nevada arts organization with such an extensive program providing quality art experience for students and training classroom teachers to utilize the arts across their curriculum.
–Donations are graciously accepted, allowing AFAN to continue conducting our annual free and open-to-the-public Family Art Festivals in November, March and July. You can also rent the Lake Mansion for your meeting or event including children’s art birthday parties in our “Art Happens Here” studio.
ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION: Arts for All Nevada is a statewide, not-for-profit and non-governmental organization conducting over 3,000 art workshops each year throughout Nevada. Arts for All Nevada was incorporated in 1986 with a mission to provide arts access for ALL. As the owner of the Lake Mansion, Arts for All Nevada is responsible for the thoughtful preservation and year-round use of the mansion as a cultural and historic site.
