ARTS FOR ALL NEVADA CELEBRATES THE CREATIVE ABILITY IN DISABILITY
with a colorful exhibit of work created by adults who have a disability

(Reno, Nev.) Arts for All Nevada showcases Creativity Explored: Abilities in Art from June 1-24, 2016 at the historic Lake Mansion.   Creativity Explored is an exhibit of two and three dimensional mixed media pieces created by adults who have a disability and participate in free weekly Arts for All Nevada visual art classes at the Lake Mansion in Reno and at the Larry D. Johnson Community Center in Sparks.  These weekly workshops are partly funded through the support of the City of Reno’s Access Advisory Committee and the City of Sparks.  In addition to the featured show, visitors can tour the historic Lake Mansion while enjoying and purchasing work from Arts for All Nevada’s year-round Art Access Gallery.  A free and open to the public artists’ reception will be held on June 9 from 4pm – 6pm. The public will have the opportunity to meet the teaching and student artists and enjoy light refreshments.

Offering art programs for adults with disabilities has long been part of Arts for All Nevada’s mission. Through visual art, all people, including adults and children who have a disability, have an opportunity to communicate their individuality and their experiences. “It’s amazing to see their personality come through their art,” says long time teaching artists, Tia Flores and Robin Robinson, who instruct the weekly classes. Creating, showing and sharing their art also allows a channel to interact with the larger community.

The historic Lake Mansion, built in 1877 and listed on the State and National Registers of Historic Places is located on the corner of Court St. and Arlington Ave., one block south of the Truckee River. Free parking is available in the Lake Mansion lot off Arlington Ave.

Along with diverse programming for specific populations across the state, Arts for All Nevada features a year-round calendar of affordable open-to-the-public classes, camps and art festivals for children and adults.
