For the first time in history, a native Nevadan is the winner of the VSA International Young Soloists Award. Every year the VSA (the international organization on arts and disability), awards exceptionally talented young musicians with disabilities from all over the world with a $2,000 reward and the opportunity to perform at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. This year, Jessica Tucker of Carson City was one of four recipients.
Jessica Tucker is an accomplished 21-year-old classical saxophonist from Carson City, NV. She was born with amblyopia in her right eye, rendering it blind. She has performed all over the United States and Canada and can now add the Kennedy Center’s Millennium Stage to her long list of performances.
If you missed the performance, a recording of the concert is now available in the Millennium Stage online archive.
As the Nevada State Affiliate for VSA, Arts for All Nevada is proud of Jessica Tucker’s artistic achievements and wish her much success with her musical pursuits.
